The answers of the above questions indicate the secret of FMCG and retail businesses. Increase in consumption will increase the sales. By trying to increase consumption, companies are trying to create a new habit or change an existing habit. It will result in more sales. The above advertisements are trying to make new habits (using anti-septic lotion during bath, washing and floor cleaning, changing tooth brush every 3 months, washing hands before taking meals, drink complain thrice a day) and maintaining the habit (brushing teeth twice a day). So, new habits will increase consumption rate, purchase rate and finally SALES. That’s why Retailing is the art of making habits and the business of maintaining habits.
